Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
no "-" in the second sentence and they're both fine
with as-tu it's really formal
with tu as it's really informal
pourquoi est-ce que tu as choisi cette destination would be neutral
there are three fundamental ways to ask questions
you should read this article and report back if you're still confused: https://www.lawlessfrench.com/grammar/questions/
Knowing how to ask questions is essential for making plans, shopping, getting to know people, and any other activity that requires obtaining info.
it's also weird because in formal situations (where the inversion is most common) you would use vous, right?
I wonder whether tu+inversion ever really sound natural to native ears
You can absolutely invert with tu, but it's not common orally (outside quebec where inversion for yes/no questions isn't uncommon even in informal situations)
i hear it sometimes
sometimes some ppl will use inversion for no reason
it's weird to me yeah
vous is not exactly the same as formality
for instance, your parents or God you would never use vous with, but if it were a play or a formal speech, you might still use the formal inversion
You mean always? God and parents are addressed with tu
Some people use vous with parents fwiw. It’s old timey, but exists
