Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
listening supermarket
@ripe mauve You already got a lot, nice work!
Tu prends le vélo pour y aller ?
Non, je prends le bus. J'ai un vélo vert, mais il est chez moi.
- Y: replaces something previously introduced by 'à' (likely the supermarket).
-> You go there by bike?
Merci!! Mais je prends vingt minutes trying to figure out a few pieces. 😅
Ohh c'est "vélo vert"!
It's a slow process, but you'll improve, don't worry. ^^
"chez moi" isn't slang at all, it's as normal as "at home"
« dans ma maison » is kind of like "inside of my house", which seems like you need to insist that it's not outside, like that's very important info
« à ma maison » sounds.. unnatural. Might be contexts for it but I don't think I'd ever prefer it
« à la maison » is kind of similar to "at the house", implies it's your house. Pretty common
"chez" is just a bit of a foreign concept to english speakers as English doesn't have a direct equivalent
"Chez + person" is roughly "at the place of + person", it's the normal way you'd express things like going to the doctor (chez le médecin) or going to someone's place
Can also be used to talk about things you like or dislike "about" someone, but that's a bit more complicated
