Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
this is verlan. The order of syllables is being reversed.
For the most part, new verlan words don't appear nowadays. The scope is mostly limited to a number of words that have basically entered common vocabulary by now (including words like téma)
If they don't know the word, and context hints it might be verlan, natives might try reversing the syllables to see if it makes sense, but that would be pretty rare
ahhh okay thank you
wait so whats maté?
"mater" is to look at someone/something in some form of judgmental way (usually checking out people but not necessarily)
sooo "We are targeted a bit like tupac, that stares at us everywhere"?
well that last sentence sounds unnatural in English so maybe its like
we're being kept on their sights everywhere we go
we're getting stares from all around us or something
yeah, i mean ofc with context "from everywhere" can be hyperbolic in the sense that the stares are only coming from around them and not literally everywhere or it can legit just mean anywhere they go there's lurking suspects glaring at them at all times
atleast that's how i can interpret from everywhere in English. One is just an exaggeration while another is more literal in the sense
I mean your interpretation isn't wrong either
