Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
the k sound is always clearer and will always be possible
but when context is very clear, it's not all on its own (in dates, as a noun, or at the end of a sentence) and liaison wouldn't take over, it can—and often is—left out
