• J'ai répondu à ton message hier (the structure equates to "I have replied to". The "replied" you used was the past participle (like "given") not the verb (like "gave"). Think that french doesn't use the preterite (I replied) and use either the present perfect or l'imparfait (je répondais= I was replying, I used to reply...). "Je" becomes j' before a following vowel, that's called élision)
• J'obéis (élision + problem of conjugation)
  The last one is correct.
