Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
Unfortunately "Avant tout" has it's own meaning, being "first of all", and not "before everything"
you can say au commencement, au début
ensuite fait attention à la différence entre passé simple et imparfait, est-ce la tour s'est dressé une fois puis est retombée ?
I don't understand "partant l'édifice grandit"
Alors je dis ‘la tour se dressait’?
oui c'est mieux
it was supposed to say ‘and so the building grew’ but yeah i can see that it doesn’t make snese
what do i say instead
change the "mais avant longtemps" too, it's not clear at all
did you mean "but after some time" ?
or after a while ?
yeah doesn't really work in french, I would look for synonyms
‘mais bientôt’?
not sure if you can use dévotion + à
ok so would just dévotion be better
or would that be unclear
yes that can work
ok tysm
j'aurais dit "ruines" au lieu de débris
remettre au lieu de rendre
on rend à qqn en général
bâtiment is maybe a bit underwhelming at the end, maybe momument or reusing édifice
ou construction
okay thank you
peu de temps après maybe ?
ou quelque temps après, même chose
Ok merci
@torn timber could i say "de l’aube a la nuit, il l’edifièrent." instead of "de l’aube à la nuit, ils travaillèrent, partant l’édifice grandit"
Thank you for your help i really appreciate it
uhhhh
no because like
hmm
édifier is construct from start to finish
so it's not something you can do from dusk till dawn
