Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
it's se ficher
What dictionary are you using? Wordreferencde has all the possible meanings: https://www.wordreference.com/fren/ficher
Ah, Google translate and Apple translate. Adding this to my list! Thank you so much
ah! translation tools are TERRIBLE if you're only giving one word of input
a good bilingual dictionary (like wordref) is MUCH better
machine translators need context to do a good job, since they basically function by looking for combinations of words that appear in corpora of translations near one another... it's all based on rather complex statistics, but at a fundamental level, translators have no idea what words mean or what they're translating
contrast that with dictionaries which have been edited by humans who actually UNDERSTAND the langauges and try to give context and detail
especially as a learner, you really ought to throw machine translators out the window for now. They're useful tools, but relying on them will at best give you sometimes dubious translations for certain words and at worse stunt your learning or lead you down the wrong path from which it will take more effort to unlearn things
