Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
pls ping me while responding, thank you
@manic fulcrum what is your budget? Can you take lessons or actually go to France?
Then practice and be prepared to fail. Be consistent. Better to study 10min a day than 1h a week.
That being said: start with basic sentences and vocab. Learn how to use the words être and avoir, because they are irregular and SUPER important. Try and translate some random sentences like: <this is my bed>. <You are my mom>. <I have an apple>. 10min every day means learning these kinds of sentences and actually trying to use them when your not consciously studying.
TV5 is a resource that my french teachers really liked with material for all levels (but I suggest you know at least a little before starting).
For the first months, focus on the basics. Then to reach C1: IMMERSE YOURSELF. You have a deadline, so you can't wait untill you're good. Start watching french movies and YouTube asap. Put your phone language to french. Struggle your way though books. Talk in the discord. If it's easy you're not learning.
You got this
Oh tv5. Je ne l'ai jamais entendu avant. J'irai voir. Merci!
I dont think i can go to france for lessons, but I think il be going there for a trip in 2026! But im learning french for a university there for my post graduation.. And yes il be consistent i promise
And il check out TV5 for sure!!! I started using duolingo since yesterday, and definitely i will make sure to listen to french podcasts and watch french movies to increase my hearing ability, and when im confident enough il talk on discord too!
Hehe, i'm hoping i can study there too. What university are you thinking of?
