Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
no idea, natives don't hear that
oh.. Thank you @vestal wedge 🙂
I think you replied to another of my questions, thank you for that as well. I cannot find that one. 🙂
Really?
They sound exactly the same
And the IPA transcription in Wiktionary gives the same vowel
assurer /a.sy.ʁe/
attention /a.tɑ̃.sjɔ̃/
Hey @whole panther , could you please tell me what you google while searching ipa pronunciations ? THank you so much !!!
well theyre the same phoneme but maybe theyre pronounced differently because of the consonant that comes after or whatever
Sure but it would still come up in the transcription. That’s why « tu aimes » has /ty ɛm/ but « vous aimez » has /vu.z‿ɛm ~ vu.z‿em/ to mark both variants
Perhaps it’s dialectical?
How did you come by this conclusion of the two said differently? Any context?
yes
with slashes it's phonological transcriptions
so just the phonemes
