Yeah that sounds like a great idea. Hearing phrases in context in much more helpful than learning them in isolation

For basic vocab try some flash cards for a while, once you have a foundation (and whenever possible) you should try to learn things by consuming media like songs, writing, news, and games

Something that you're interested in so you're motivated and have the energy to get through the hard parts
