Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
direct and indirect object pronouns go before the main verb which is either (a) the verb that describes the action or (b) the auxiliary verb in compound tenses
in the case of the future proche "aller" is not considered an auxiliary verb, so you need to put the reflexive pronoun in front of the main verb, coucher
Are these the indirect object pronouns? Je → me (I → myself)
Tu → te (You → yourself)
Il/Elle/On → se (He/She/One → himself/herself)
Nous → nous (We → ourselves)
Vous → vous (You → yourselves)
Ils/Elles → se (They → themselves)
Chatgpt says these are called Reflextive Verbs
Il va se coucher. He is going himself to bed/lie down
So, first of all, use real grammar ressources, not ChatGPT
lawlessfrench.com is a good one
me, te, se, nous, and vous can all act as either direct or indirect objects
After 20 minutes I just finished that Busuu lesson of Future Proche and Reflective Verbs
Hmm
Wait Chatgpt can't speak French? I was told speaking to Chatgpt was helpful
Of course chatgpt can't "speak" French
it's a computer program
it's a LLM that is quite good at predicting a logical string of text, but it has no idea how language or grammar actually functions
so, for practicing a conversation or something it can be a good tool
but don't ask it to explain grammar to you - it can make shit totally up
Yeah I've been saying sentences and repeating it in Chatgpt to see if I wrote it correctly
