Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
Note: I sometimes use Busuu here and there. Level 16 on the first page on Busuu. Thats it (I've watched 8 episodes of Miraculous ladybug so far, I like the french voice actors)
Sorry if confusing
Maybe find the Astérix movies (the cartoons) or the episodes of Les Aventures de Tintin. maybe they're a bit old, but I think the elocution is clear enough for you to understand.
Or maybe not lol if you're a beginner. Anyways, you should give it a look.
yeah, if you don't know basic words, i think time is probably better spent working through a beginners textbook
watching shows in french is great! but if you don't even basic vocabulary, then I think devoting some time to achieving that is pretty useful
Wait so I'm wasting my time? When do I know I'm comfortable enough to immerse myself and watch shows in french
You can do it whenever, provided you're enjoying yourself.

Have a look over these, LawlessFrench and Kwiziq will likely be your best friends for building up a solid foundation, and Wordreference for vocab
you're not wasting your time, and you'll probably have a much better foundation than people who take french classes for years but hear very little actual french
Yes, this ladybug show is shockingly very enjoyable to watch and I look forward to watching it everyday @sharp forum I was about to remove all show watching for a moment there.
I expected the show to be trash which is why I picked it
Yeah i genuinely had no idea how French was supposed to sound. I was previously just hearing basic words like Le, La,
Les, J'aime, L'ete, J'achete etc and that was it to simplify
language learning like any skill is ultimately something that must be figured out for yourself
comprehensible input is basically the motto of modern language pedagogy
and the growing consensus is that learning a language is basically just achieving comprehensible input
that's why doing something as simple as watching a show might actually get you closer to understanding french than someone who's taken 2 years of classes and can pass tests but does not actually understand french
that being said, if you're at a very basic level, the fastest way to grow what's comprehensible to you is by reading easier sentences and intentionally memorizing basic vocabulary
so it's not the most efficient way to learn french at the beginning, but it's definitely better than the alternative which is to memorize many things but become discouraged because you don't have a way to actually put them into practice
in any case, the most important thing is to not get discouraged, so if you feel like you're moving too slowly, then i would say change it up a little bit
you wanna find what works for you
I agree, however I noticed there is a different language in your bio. I've noticed lots of people, notably Europeans speak multiple languages. I was extremely monolingual, I had to re-learn what Partitive (du and de la) and definite articles (la, les) I think it would be a great idea to have experienced people guide me with reommendations like using lawless french texts and pdf textbooks
I completely forgot what adverbs were as well. But it is a good idea to find out what works for me. I just need to know what all the possible resources are so I can pick my own plan
Ok, read easy sentences and memorize basic vocabulary. And avoid memorizing many things which can be discouraging.
you'll figure out what's discouraging, but you need to remember many things to speak a language
if you can just watch a tv show to learn a language, great
most people can't
a textbook will give you structure and introduce you to the basics
Good news I logged on ''mllewilliams.pbworks.com'' through the lawless text, I am currently on waiting list. I need to sign up to access
Do I need to buy these textbooks? I prefer to use a free PDF if thats available
Merrieux is not a word
Excuse me Mieux, I want to use the word for better
Yea there's mieux and meilleur
Mieux is an adverb and meilleur is an adjective. They are both the comparative and superlative forms of bien and bon respectively. There, it should help you.
Except you can say c'est mieux
