Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
who did you hear say suite like chuite?
maybe it's a different s sound because of the u but it's still understood as a /s/
idk i never paid attention
if theres a difference its minor
does your native lang have two different s sounds?
i did notice that at the end of sentences that end in closed vowels some speakers will pronounce a sh or f
but its to be ignored
yeah youre just supposed to hear it as a s
Thank you so much!
The vowel after the /s/ in suite is a high vowel which can cause the /s/ to become slightly palatalized
But I've never heard it be so strong as to become a full sh/ch sound
*in french
Wow I try to put my tongue on palate and it makes it easier to understand why U is influencing s sound
Thank you!
Can I ask one more question here or do I need another ticket!?
Threads are just so they don't clutter the channel, you can discuss whatever you'd like
If I can't answer it though it would probably be better to open a new one so its more visible
Okay.
These 3 are so confusing prochaine vs bientot vs demain. I understood a tout l’heure but this one is tough to differentiate
Ah yeah aside from the literal meanings I dont know any more nuanced difference
Might be better to open a new ticket, my french is rusty and I dont wanna give bad info lol
But thanks for guiding me on previous question! And @toxic lodge thanks, as well:)
Np
Well à demain is for when you will see the person again the next day
À bientôt is for when you will see them again soon
And à la prochaine when you just know you will see them again sometime
Or when you don't wanna think about it xd
This is a noted phenomenon in fact!
