Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
It's an irregular verb that has two stems depending on the tense: ir- and all-/aill-. There's also v- in the present tense.
Sorry for late reply, brother took my laptop by accident to london but then what would the meaning of it be?
It means that the simple future tense uses the ir- stem in its conjugation: j'irai, tu iras, il/elle/on ira, nous irons, vous irez, ils/elles iront. And the imperfect tense uses the all- stem in its conjugation: j'allais, tu allais, il/elle/on allait, nous allions, vous alliez, ils/elles allaient. Each tense chooses one stem out of the two and will not change it in any way.
Only the present tense (and the present imperative mood too) has va-/vo- in its conjugation: je vais, tu vas, il/elle/on va, ils/elles vont.
would it mean 'was going to' and then you could add stuff to it etc J'allais mange pomme de terre etc
J'allais manger une pomme de terre.
You can only have one conjugated verb per clause.
