Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

In English, possessive pronouns are based on the possessor.
In French, it's based on the gender of the possessed noun.

The important thing is whether the brother is masculine or feminine, not Marie.

Marie parle à son frère. (to her brother)
Marie parle à sa soeur. (to her sister)
Marie parle à ses parents. (to her parents)

#

this is coherent with the way articles are based on the noun's gender in French.
Le frère / un frère / son frère
La soeur / une soeur / sa soeur
Les parents / des parents / ses parents
