Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
yeah
l'avis de ceux qui pensent que les télévisions doivent être bannies est davantage favorable
No no, I was just showing you the structure
the main clause is « l'avis (de ceux) est davantage favorable »
the first subordinate clause is « ceux qui pensent »
the second subordinate is « que les télés doivent être bannies »
Not sure if you can use davantage as a preposition
An adverb modifying an adjective, you mean?
so you can say « il est plus grand que moi » but not « il est davantage grand que moi » ?
Il y en a davantage ici que là-bas
Yeah exactly
But why are you using favorable on its own? What does it mean? To me favorable is like favorable à sth like favorable au Brexit
ah d'accord
LMAO ChatGPT vs native who wins
Pls don't use chatgpt for language learning
You can ask here
Or search on reliable sites
The Québec government's site is good from what I've seen
There's français facile
Convaincant works
Well don't
When this happens, try to do a new query, in a new window, and see if it's still saying the same thing, if it doesn't, then start doubting.
Often, it won't.
(Although, I agree with chatGPT on this one. il est davantage favorable aux pommes qu'aux oranges is perfectly acceptable, as a synonym of plus.)
We could say Davantage de résolutions sont prises pour la nouvelle années, but we could also say Il est davantage évident que les nouvelles résolutions sont prises pour la nouvelle.
Second one is more literary, but still correct nevertheless.
not even literary, just more formal. (not in comparison to the first example, rather in comparison to what someone would say in a casual setup)
(And it's not used as a preposition.)
(And there's no issue using chatgpt, but always second guess it by crossing informations, don't use it as a last resort.)
