Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
this one is pretty good, although I disagree with the "combien" vs "combien de" distinction
Disagree as in?
you have to remember that not all is a one to one transaltion.
For instance, sometimes you'll use "quel"
"what" can translate various ways (quoi, que, quel...)
when do you have to use "est-ce que" etc
but this is still a good basis
when followed by a noun, "combien" requires the preposition "de", doesn't matter if it's countable or not
how many apples => combien de pommes
how much money => combien d'argent
but when you're implicitely talking about money or temperature, you don't have to use a noun
how much is it? => combien c'est ?
how hot is it? => combien il fait ?
I see okay thank you
Does it matter for what if we use either quoi, que or quel?
yes, they're all used for different purposes
