Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
Yes, it's irregular.
Do note that -re verbs are irregular in general
They don't have one dominant conjugation pattern like -er and -ir (excluding -oir) verbs do. They instead have several patterns.
i mean isn't the base conjugation
for re verbs just
je s
tu s
il/elle/on (nothing)
nous ons
vous ez
ils/elles ent
tho i mean eh, if not so it isn't that much of a big deal, know alot of verbs by now and i just know the spelling naturally lolz
@fathom tartan @runic galleon thanks alot guys
Yes but that applies to way fewer -re verbs compared to the other endings.
Every -er verb except aller is regular
Almost all -ir verbs are regular except for the most common ones and things like -oir
I don't know numbers but I would guess that 50% -re verbs don't follow that pattern.
That's only some -re verbs
rendre and friends, for example
(je rends, tu rends, il rend, nous rendons, vous rendez, ils rendent)
atteindre and friends would disagree
(j'atteins, tu atteins, il atteint, nous atteignons, vous atteignez, ils atteignent)
what else
True, -eindre/-aindre verbs are exceptions.
conduire (je conduis, tu conduis, il conduit, nous conduisons, vous conduisez, ils conduisent)
mettre (je mets, tu mets, il met, nous mettons, vous mettez, ils mettent)
écrire (j'écris, tu écris, il écrit, nous écrivons, vous écrivez, ils écrivent)
connaitre (je connais, tu connais, il connait, nous connaissons, vous connaissez, ils connaissent)
