Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

Maybe “l’effet raccourcissant des jumelles”

oh, great. a little bit of a technical term, isn't. thanks. no idea how to put it in French.

I have doubts that you can, actually. effet de racourcissement or effet de perspective seem usable, but quite strange. We would probably translate it with a complete sentence, rather than a compound word like the foreshortening effect, it would feel more natural to go with ""L'effet qui fait que les objets semblent plus proches et plus petits" or something like that.

Although, I'm quite unaware of the technical terminology photographs would use, perhaps there's something that would fit.

Which is why the horses, when viewed head-on through the binoculars, look like their heads are bobbing up and down unnaturally compared to the rest of their body. Their neck is hidden from view

There's no adjectives thus far that would magically translate it.
