You could use un vide (a void) or un manque (a lack)

"Il y a un vide en moi qui ne sera jamais comblé" = "There is a void within me that will never be filled"

If it's something related to trauma, you could use the term une blessure (a wound/an injury), it can be used for both physical and psychological aspects.

If you're looking for the word "a hole" it's "un trou" in french, but I reckon it would not be used in the sense that you meant in your question.

However, you may encounter "un trou de mémoire" which, translated literally is "a hole of memory", it is a saying expressing a brief lack of memory, like a blackout. That's when you could see the word for "hole" being employed outside of the physical sense.
