Prepositions are all over the place so this kind of generalisation can be accurate at times, can be inaccurate at other times
I mean it's fine but you're not going to get far unless you know what « au, aux » are
Yes though in subordinate clauses if the subject is the same you can usually use the infinitive and it'll work great

« au, à la, aux » is just the preposition « à » plus the definite articles « le, la, les ».
Same principle of « du, de la, des » being the preposition « de » plus the articles « le, la, les »
Yes articles can be placed after prepositions. An exception that comes to mind is « en » which doesn’t have it.
