Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
Impératif
Présent
sois
soyons
soyez
In imperative, is it still sois if the rule is no ‘s’ at the end of tu’?
That rule only applies to regular verbs in the first group (the verbs whose infinitive form ends in -er)
Basically any -er conjugation type verbs (some -ir verbs are included bc they're conjugated like -er iirc)
Yea
ohhh okay, merci! J’ai comprend
And savoir?
Worth remembering that it's also very much not just regular -er, aller counts as well
Savoir is among the true irregulars of the imperative (and its conjugation has -er endings so it follows the s rule)
This should help
So basically the s gets removed in 100% of -ER verbs regardless of ending, 0% of -RE verbs, and whatever -IR verbs have -ER endings
(and it gets added back before « -en » or « -y » )
