Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

it would be "offres-en" if you mean to say "offer some" and yes it'd be de l'argent

😭 i thought i cant add s to imperative commands

#

like "dessine-les!!"

You don't add -s in -er verbs (and some other verbs such as aller) in the second person singular UNLESS you have the pronoun y or en next to it.

Yep, some -ir verbs are special in that they conjugate like -er verbs in the present. Thus they undergo the same rule in the imperative.

#

Cueillir, offrir, souffrir, etc.

i gotta question about the order of the pronouns in command sentences

#

like if i have to convert this "nous ne devons pas utiliser la table au gym"

#

is it right to say "ne l'y utilisons pas" ???

#

is the l'y correct? it looks so wrong

ok merci beaucouppp

dawn onyx
#

it's not natural i'd say

valid sky
dawn onyx
#

i'd only replace "la table" and keep "au gym" or replace it by "là-bas"

#

as in :"nous ne devons pas l'utiliser au gym"
"nous ne devons pas l'utiliser là-bas"

valid sky
#

ok thx!!

#

i got another question

#

envoie-lui en une (send her one letter)

#

is this right?

#

do i use "en" full stop when there are more than 1 things?

#

and use "en un/une" when it's just 1 thing?

#

envoie-lui en = send her SOME letters right?

dawn onyx
royal tendon
#

« en … [chiffre] » is the structure

dawn onyx
# valid sky do i use "en" full stop when there are more than 1 things?

i'd say usually yes, because full stop is used for undefined plural (if that makes sense, not sure about my translation lmho) but it can also used for nouns that are uncountable e.g. sugar
il veut du sucre --> donne-lui en
or in your case
il veut une lettre --> envoie-lui en une
il veut des lettres --> envoie-lui en

#

if i'm not mistaken

When you have numbers modifying nouns, you need to have that noun. If not, the sentence is meaningless. If you just have a number, then, you need the noun it modifies OR « en »

#

Tu lui envoies six lettres / Tu lui en envoies six
Envoie-lui six lettres / Envoie-lui en six
