Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

you did perfect
there are a few mistakes in the exercise, but that's not your fault

#

play an instrument => jouer **d'**un instrument (not "jouer à un instrument")
going hiking => faire de la randonnée (not "aller à une randonnée")

#

once again, you did all right. I'm just correcting the initial exercise

mon père joue de la guitare

Jouer à + sport, game
Jouer de + musical instrument

#

another exception to remember?pourquoi

kindred forge
#

it's not exactly an exception. Prepositions depend on the verb to begin with

#

play a role => jouer un role
play a game => jouer à un jeu
play an instrument => jouer d'un instrument

#

all questions 11 to 14 should use "de" because of that, not "à" as indicated

sweet sequoia
#

why is hiking a faire instead of an aller?

kindred forge
#

"de" is because it's uncountable. You're basically doing an amount of said activity

#

by the way, for question 18, as is, it means they're going to a place where there is a horse race. If they're competing in the race, you need to use "faire" as well for the same reason

"faire du baseball" and "jouer au baseball" are both correct
same for other sports

but i did the exercise right now right?

kindred forge

yup !
The only thing I'm unsure is "Mes collègues vont au cinéma tous le dimanche."
it should be either "tous les dimanches" (every sunday) or "tout le dimanche" (all sunday long)
you nailed it though thumbsup
