Its French title is 'Museum of the Louvre', with 'Louvre' being the Louvre Palace (palais, masculine).

Hence 'Musée du Louvre'.

English just prefers to structure monuments and commemorations like that. The Lincoln Memorial is really ‘Memorial of Lincoln (as in dedicated to him)’ and it’s translated accordingly in French: le mémorial de Lincoln. ‘Lincoln’ isn’t an adjective here.

With 'Lincoln Memorial', English expects you to understand that 'Lincoln' is the thing to whom this monument is dedicated. French can't do that, you have to explain the relation, so you see « mémorial de Lincoln ».

An example I found online is the « Palais du Grand Large » in Saint-Malo, France. « Le Grand Large » is the name of a building in Saint-Malo which used to house a casino but now houses a « palais des congrès (convention centre) ». Because « Grand Large » describes a location, French is explicit in saying, « Palais (des congrès) du Grand Large ».
English would rather say 'Grand Large Convention Centre' and making you wonder if 'Grand Large' was just the name of something else.
