Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
La soirée insists on the duration while le soir is more about the moment
if i may, you should not put an accent on a since it's avoir verb, not the preposition à
croissant is countable so it's either un croissant or des croissants, but never du croissant
But in this case for example, I dont exactly tell the number of croissant I eat. So why cant I use "Du croissant" like this one?
in this case it's not a partitive article (i.e. it doesn't refer to a quantity)
but du, as a partitive article, can't be used for countable nouns
you have to choose between un (one) or a word that means several croissants (quelques, plusieurs... or just the article des)
i can't think of a way to mean some croissants as "one or several"
This would be the preposition « de (of) » and the definite article « le (the) » : The history of the croissant.
