Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
loan
« Pourriez-vous m'avancer 20 euros ? »
'Would you be able to pay me 20 euros in advance?'
'Would you be able to loan/borrow me 20 euros?'
You can 'advance money' in English, too. It's when you pay before receiving the goods or service.
I see, in this context tho she was talking about we don't have to pay in the pharmacies in framce because the sécurité sociale française would take care of it. Am I just not getting the point ? lol
or is it avancer like pousser litérallement l'argent vers le pharmacien ?
In some cases you have to pay for a medical service with your own money and the insurance refunds you later.
Here they are saying that the payment is directly handled by the insurance and your own money is not involved at any point.
