there are two ways:

  1. like you guessed, we can say "3 sur 4" or "72 sur 93"
  2. use words dedicated for fractions: 3/4 as "trois quarts", 72/93 as "soixante-douze quatre-vingt-treizièmes"

2nd way is more common with a denominator of 8 or less (I think)

"une demie", "deux tiers", "trois quarts", "quatre cinquièmes", "cinq sixièmes"...
