Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
they're just not translating directly
"si je peux" <=> "if I'm able to"
"si tu veux" <=> "if you want"
Oh so it’s more “if I can”? (If I find the time and it works out with everything etc)
translations often are not direct to sound more natural in the target language even though in this case the change could be seen as unnecessary

Well, for what it’s worth, I would have really appreciated the actually proper translation from them — or at least an explanation of it in brackets or sth
French is confusing enough for a beginner as it is!
if it's from a beginner resource then sure you could expect a more direct translation, but just keep in mind you'll encounter a lot of translations where the meaning changes slightly to better fit the language. In case of doubt, feel free to ask like you just did
