Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
Depuis, (since)
-tion is almost always feminine jsyk (the exceptions are fairly rare words so you're unlikely to encounter them)
Pareille pour le mot télé/télévision qui est féminin
Same for the word "série" its a féminine word so it is "unE bonNE série télé"
It is strange, but we say "on" discord so "sur discord"
And thats all ive to say, keep training ! You'll overtake on many natives im sure !
Merci beaucoup!
hey I see that you've been learning French and you've made quite a bit of progress, I wanted to ask you a couple things about that if its alright with you?
Yeah!
is it okay if I DM you about it?
My DMs are closed due to some people not respecting my boundaries a while ago. Um... we can talk here?
Pas de probleme
I understand that
so I have been trying to learn French, but I feel like Im mostly learning random things and thats not helping me
I am lacking structure
and thats making it hard for me to learn the language
you mentioned that you utilize Busuu
what would you recommend personally?
Busuu is nice because it teaches more advanced sentence structures like imperfect tense, past tense, future tense, and so forth. But it doesn't really drill the lesson into you the way Duolingo does (though you do have the ability to retake the courses as many times as you want). Once you're given that knowledge it's really up to you to go out there and apply it. Start writing stuff using that tense. Practice is.
I think Busuu in combination with practice (Reading stuff in French. Listening to podcasts in French. Watching TV shows in French like Pokémon. And also coming into places like this and practice using the lessons you learned.) Will help. Though I do also utilize Duolingo to really drill some basic concept I struggle with into me like basic basic conjugations.
is busuu a paid resource? what about French with Alexa?
are you paying for it or utilizing the free resources on the platform ?
I'm using it for free. You can access the lessons by watching an ads
I really like French with Alexa. I wish I had more time for it. I also listen to innerFrench. It's a podcast. He speaks entirely in French but he speaks slowly so you can practice listening to it. You can also read along with the transcripts.
Oh like you can access all the lessons pretty much?
Ouais tu besoin de finir le leçon précédent avant tu continue et à la fin de chaque unité tu besoin de finir un test avec un 80% ou plus
To move onto the next unit
Je vais
So how much would you say those lessons have helped you
and how far have you made it into the course
Busuu bases it's lessons off 4 of the 6 language levels that the EU uses to measure fluency. Here's a table from Council of Europe for reference
Busuu has lessons for A1, A2, B1 and B2. I'm about half way through A2 but I test at a low A2 to high A1 level (based on self assessment test which doesn't hold a lot of water because CEFR tests are spoken as well as written).
