Des is the plural form of un/une.

French is different from English.

I see.. yea I know its diff from english im just trying to make sense of it, like des is de les so I was thinking 'of the group of small trees'

it basically means some, in the same vain du/de la also mean "some", just for uncountables
some carrots/some coffee
des carottes/du café

but yeah the main difficulty ia going to be identifying whether du/de la/des actually means "of the" or if it means "some"

which is done through context

so yeah it's just "some" but in french you can't omit it as you can in english

Ohhhh I knew about 'des' meaning some but i did not apply it here, I was over thinking it. So would u say it represents 'some' here??
