Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
You can do it that way since 1990
But.... like who cares - no one writes out numbers lmao
I do, for examination purposes lol
so then how do you do it
just put hyphens where you want to, it doesn't matter

the most important is the numbers
oh wait I misread the other person lmao
they said that you can do it
not cant
since 1990
oh really? so I'll get my marks for writing it that way yeah?
yeah true
oops if it's for homework then it matters lol
your teacher said to put hyphens everywhere?
not for homework
its just for the DELF test
you know?
A1/A2?
I live in Quebec, employers here like those DELF certificates for jobs
hm i just heard of it so i don't know what level they expect
they expect a B2, which is gonna take me a while but atleast I can focus on A2 for now
and they can ask you to spell out big numbers in that exam, I think
i mean you can't go wrong if you put hyphens everywhere
the rule pre-1990 is more complicated
its good to just put hyphens everywhere then yeah? cause I just dont want any more rules haha, its so hard already with the existing rules that you have
It would be WILD if they asked you to write out a number for the DELF
why?
they can ask anything right
it's just not an indication of your language ability
maybe it's good but it hurts my eyes to read "un-million"
so idk
it's a silly rule that even natives don't know
BECAUSE they don't write out numbers
true
Etes-vous francoise?
as long as you're able to write out number up to like 100… you'll be fine
yeah I can definitely do that, thats easy
can you guys suggest like a structured way to learn French?
Im struggling to find a proper resource like that
I want something that goes from basic French grammar, to then intermediate, and then advanced, step by step
can you help please
There is no one ressource that can do that
did you have a look at #archive-ressources
yeah but that didnt really help me
thats okay, if you can give me a couple resources, thats fine too
how did you learn french?
are you based in Europe?
I live in France, but I'm not French
Je vais...so you're looking to get citizenship of France?
I need to submit the paperwork, yeah
thats cool, good luck with your application
Its kind of the same here for me
Im in Canada though
but not Canadian, need to learn French for that haha
native speakers are not the best persons to ask tips for learning i guess
lmao, yup
and not people who've been speaking the language for decades either haha
"so how did you learn french, any tips?"
well my mother made me 😭

I wish I had been born in France too
sorry guys just wanted to make sure, do we have to say un million ?
I was under the impression we can just say cent, mille, million, sans dire un avant ?
oui
