Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
avoir peur que takes the subjunctive
and it doesn't really matter what came before, if avoir peur que introduces a clause, that clause will be in the subjunctive
however, "pouvoir" is kinda strange in the sentence that you've put together
generally pouvoir is used for capacities, but here you're using it as an interdiction
you're more likely to encounter devoir used in that case
unless for some reason you're literally incapable of being afraid because of something
@fervent gorge and if je peux plus avoir peur etc means that it's a necessity that the speaker imposes on themselves ?
Is it still devoir instead ?
Or falloir
Il faut que j'aie plus peur que
je ne peux pas X -> I am incapable of doing X
je ne dois pas X -> I must / should not do X
Ik I just wanted to know the general concept
Merci
