Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
- Je te dis lequel acheter (informal)
- Je vous dis lequel acheter (formal or addressing more than one person)
lequel is for masculin nouns and laquelle is for feminine nouns, for example if you’re talking about cars or houses you will say laquelle and not lequel. I hope that helps
so lequel would replace the de in the dire + de + faire structure?
No
"lequel" doesnt replace the "de" in the "dire + de + faire" structure. Instead, it serves as a pronoun to specify which one of something. The "dire de + infinitive" structure is used to indicate telling someone to do something, but in this case, "lequel" specifies the object of the verb
"Je te dis d'acheter une voiture, je te dirai laquelle acheter".
In the first part of this sentence im telling you to do the verb and in the second part im telling you what to do the verb on
