- "Comment ça va?" = informal, widely used, and neutral. Suitable for friends and acquaintances.
- "Comment allez-vous?" = Formal or plural. It’s used for showing respect or addressing multiple people.
- "Comment tu vas?" = Informal and direct. Also suitable for friends
For a friend, both "Comment ça va?" and "Comment tu vas?" are appropriate, with "Comment ça va?" being the most commonly used among all age groups
If you’re speaking to multiple friends at once you then say "comment vous allez ?" or even "comment ça va ?"
ohh i see, and do people usually respond with “ça va bien”
and how do i respond to comment vous allez?
They sure do
Yep, or even just "bien".
Assuming that you wanna say that you’re fine, there are tons of ways to respond to this. You can say "Je vais bien", "ça va bien", "très bien, merci", "tout va bien" or even just "bien" like Nameless said
And just for additional politeness you can add "et toi/vous?" just to send the same question right back at them x)
