Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

Je crois qu'il n'y a personne qui peut se l'encadrer = I think nobody can stand him

Ça veut dire que tout le monde le déteste

#

Au fait:

  • J'ai mal = Je ressens de la douleur
  • J'ai du mal = C'est difficile pour moi

ive seen in text-style speech (with shortenings such as lgtmps) words that should end in er end in é and vice versa

It's a very common spelling mistake that native speakers make

fossil imp
#

oh word, i thought it was just for ease of typing

#

not wanting to put two letters → put é to signify same sound
not wanting to do the effort of getting é → put er to signify same sound

lol nope it's a spelling mistake. You'll often see it the other way around too: a past participle that was supposed to end in "-é" being spelled "-er" instead

#

It's the same kind of mistake as native English speakers mixing up "there/their/they're" or "your/you're" when typing

#

Homophones are a common source of spelling woes

i find this funny because i had for real been operating under the belief that it was intentional for YEARS

#

like, since i had instagram, like age 14-15 😭😭

#

i do a ces/ses mixup and such if my hands go on autopilot while i type

#

anyway sorry for derailing as always 😭

I guess making spelling mistakes that native speakers make is... a win?

Is the verb s'encadrer?
Why was it se l'encadré?

Is it like
se = personne
l' = le = Du Plessis ?

# vagrant burrow Is the verb s'encadrer? Why was it se l'encadré? Is it like se = personne l' ...

The base expression is :

  • ne pas pouvoir encadrer quelqu'un = to not be able to stand someone
    Example:
  • Je ne peux pas encadrer ce mec = I can't stand this guy
Since the person you can't stand is the direct object of the verb, then you need the pronoun le/la when replacing it with a pronoun.
  • Je ne peux pas l'encadrer = I can't stand him/her
The verb can be made reflexive (s'encadrer) to sound even more informal and emphasized
  • Je ne peux pas me l'encadrer = I can't stand him/her
#

Personne ne peut se **l'**encadrer = Personne ne peut s'encadrer Du Plessis
Nobody can stand Du Plessis
