If it were truly passive, then it would be "Le pion noir a été débarrassé (par nous)."

I don't think the non-pronominal sentence is incorrect, but I'm not sure whether it's considered passive. -- Perhaps a "stative passive" construction

Par contre, l'exemple en dessous du deuxième définition est ainsi « être débarrassé d'une corvée » . Donc ne peut-on pas dire « Je suis débarrassé d'une corvée » et par conséquence également « nous sommes débarrassés du pion » ?

In the former, the person doing the getting rid of isn’t explicitly stated.
