Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
it's wrong
verte is the feminine form of vert (green), not verre
"verre" is a masculine noun, it has no feminine form
It's probably best to think of nouns as not having masculine or feminine forms at all
it just happens that for many nouns describing people there are both a masculine and feminine noun for the same professions etc.
This is why AI sucks for language learning, it doesn't really know grammar. I think it's been explained to you before since you've put similar questions before, but nouns don't have masculine and feminine versions, they just have masculine OR feminine. Nouns don't change gender (unless you're immortal) and so asking if a noun has a masculine/feminine version is wrong.
What does have masculine/feminine versions are adjectives which is why the AI responded with « verte »; it had thought that you meant « vert » since « le verre » as a noun doesn't have different gendered versions whereas the adjective « vert » does.
AI is simply not a learning tool
to be fair, chatgpt4o answers the question correctly with the exact same prompt
language models answer questions much less accurately when they're allowed to search the Internet in my experience, i would definitely turn that off if you can
they use an algorithm to determine which parts of the prompt are relevant to what it's going to generate next, and adding an entire webpage to the prompt seems to distract it too much from the actual question you've asked.
in this case it probably found irrelevant results on bing (shocker) talking about the feminine form of vert and that confused it
AI algorithms are not a learning tool
use a damn dictionary, people!
Thanks so much for the comments. I appreciate your feedback. I've read all of your suggestions. 👋
Thanks for taking the time once again.
Indeed. Just like Bertie told me before. It's a pity I keep forgetting it. Spanish doesn't work the same way unfortunately. 👋
I would say it works the same in Spanish
