Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
Tu is second person singular
Vous is second person plural, but also used to show respect to/social distance from an individual
Essentially:
Tu manges -> You eat
Vous mangez -> you guys eat OR you eat, sir
Vous isn't nearly as formal or stodgy as sir though, but it's the best parallel I could draw for this example

note that this is correct when addressing to one person only
if you're addressing several, you always use "vous"
just to be sure it's clear
