Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
to answer quickly. if you see someone as an equal, use tu
but have this funny and accurate flowchart
merci bcp !

fwiw, teenagers will practically always use tu with each other, even if they've never met
it would be mega awkward to us vous
really anyone who you meet while you're still a student who is also in your age range, you should just use tu
and even once you're older, if you're talking to a kid, you can use tu
I use vous with my students (who are all 18 years old now)
but if they were a bit younger I would absolutely use 'tu'
It's interesting to note that vous is also used by some adults when talking to children to be more respectful. This often happened to me.
I thought it was just a formal way of speaking
