Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
hi
j'en bois beaucoup - i drink a lot of it
J'ai boiT (passé composé) beaucoup - i DRANK a lot
when learning in our book beaucoup stays the same though
Im just tyring to understand "en". that is what im learning so im sorry
so
tu bois **de l'**eau? (do you drink water)
j'en bois beaucoup - i drink a lot of it (water)
en is to replace numbers (i have X of them, j'en ai X), to replace de/du/de la/de l'/des (tu bois du café? oui j'en bois)
More accurate to say that 'en' replaces the thing of which you have some amount, not the number that designates it itself ^^
So is it a way of not repeating yourself ina sense?
ye
but only to un/une and all variants of de
alright, I guess I'll just try to be aware of this and learn more. Thank you both. Idk how to close channel
J'ai bu
no need to close the channel
It would be "J'ai beaucoup bu"
Your welcome !
The past participle of boire
ok
J'en bois beaucoup = I drink/am drinking a lot of it (présent)
J'ai beaucoup bu = I drank a lot (passé composé)
