Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
pretty sure both are okay
No, they must conjugate by adding ending to nous conjugated form
ok, yeah just checked
Like all verbs except for 10
tbh, no one would bat an eye if you wrote "je tutoye"
buuuut even more so than that, it's very rare to write those verbs down
It's for pronunciation reasons
Tutoyer is pronounced like tutoiyer (with the "wa" sound)
This is the same with all -oyer verbs to my knowledge. To retain the "wa" sound as a word final, we have to use "oi", whether it's subjunctive or indicative
Np! 👍
The -oie / -oye alternation applies in both the indicative and subjunctive, as the endings are completely identical in this case
Sayign they are based on the nous stem is imprecise. This doesn't account for stem reduction, and alternations like this one.
It's more accurate to say that, for all but the small handful of truly irregular verbs, subjunctive forms are based on the "ils/elles" present tense form, except for the nous.vous forms which are taken from the imperfect
Hm whats the difference between ils/elles forming and nous forming? I see them both on some site without telling the difference
I used to use the nous one but i just found recevoir and its not recev its reçoiv
and its recev for vous nous
Im confused
recev is the "unstressed" stem (used when another vowel follows, like the -ons of nous or the -ez of vous), while reçoiv- is the "stressed" stem (used when no pronounced vowel follows)
recev is deductible from the nous form, while reçoiv is deductible from the ils/elles form
But if the verb doesn't featuer such a stressed/unstressed distinction, knowing the nous form is enough
Do u have any articles for that?
No, I'm not familiar with this kind of resources unfortunately
When it comes to learning how to form the subjunctive however, I think you have all the information you need at hand now
Ok
