I guess Duo is being strict.

He sorts all his waste correctly = il trie tous ses déchets correctement

He correctly sorts all his waste = il trie correctement tous ses déchets

Your answer isn’t grammatically wrong, but one might argue that it is not a fully accurate translation.

this kind of “translation” approach makes zero sense, there’s little reason to think that that’s actually a better translation that preserves the meaning. Faut qu’on apprenne une langue en parlant cette langue!
