I think masculine since it’s used for mixed nouns too

but if the category itself is masc or fem you would just use the gender of the category

If you’re taking about cars it will always be “laquelle”, for instance

Oh interesting though I can't think of any situation where there's a difference between the nouns' genders but not their category

Do you mean something like, « J'ai beaucoup de chaises disponible. J'ai des fauteuils et des tabourets, lesquelles est-ce que vous préfériez ? » where we use « lesquelles » because it refers to « chaises » ?
