In which case "y" doesn't replace the object of "trouver" but rather the location you "trouve des coquillages" in (la plage)

"Je crois à <noun>" means "I believe in [the viability of] <noun>"

No, you can't really use "j'y crois" or "j'y pense" to say "I believe so" or "I think so".

"J'y crois" means "I believe in <the aforementioned thing>" and "j'y pense" means "I'm thinking about <the aforementioned thing>".

You can say "Je crois, oui" or "Je crois que oui" or "Je pense que oui" or "Il me semble que oui" to say "I believe so" or "I think so"
