Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

There is no one answer fits all. this is like asking when you can upgrade from a tricycle, to training wheels on a bike to no training wheels. You decide when you're ready.
Should I turn my brain off?
Not really, you should try and understand as much as you can and pick up words when you can. The issue you are having may be the media you are watching does not corrispond to your french level.
I see... I mean, I do watch beginner french videos but the contents of those videos aren't really interesting to me but I still I try to understand as much as I can. But after doing that for a while, I kinda just want to turn my brain off and rest but still hear french if that makes sense? So I watch videos that I WOULD find interesting, like animations. I like hearing the french, but I wouldn't necessarily use all my brain power to try and decode everything. I would usually just focus on the animation. I still turn on the subtitles and try to keep with the voice actor while reading, but I don't stop after every single sentence to try and decode the meaning
liking animation is a good starting point as thats where beginner level content is in: cartoons.
dont decode but yknow try and hear out words they say, or vocab
I see, I'll do that merci! Do you happen to know any animations that's good for beginner level french?
2 weeks in isnt much. so your level at this stage is still infant. now im not saying watch cocomelon. but something like 12+ would be okay, for example miraculous ladybug.
mouk as well
gaspard et lisa is such a good resource but theres only one episode on youtube
have a scroll through netflix, or any shows you watched as a kid
ill bet theres a french dub
OMG I LOVED MIRACULOUS LADYBUG😠I WOULD RELIGIOUSLY WATCH IT LMAO.
Anyway, merci beaucoup!!!
