Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
Je, tu, on, nous, vous: these are all genderless
il, ils: these are masculine
elle, elles: these are feminine
thank you for clearing that up and correcting my wrong understandings
Native french speakers are working well , congratulations 👏 hhhh
wait so a girl must say "Je suis heureux"?
No. While the "je" doesn't change, the adjective must agree with her gender. So she'd have to say
"Je suis heureuse"
This is true of any pronoun. What I meant is that je, tu, etc. don't have a separate masculine vs feminine form.
But adjectives always agree with what they describe
Oh I am sorry for the confusion
So same thing applies to Nous/Vous/On?
For example, a group of all girls say: "Nous sommes heureuses"?
Yes.
If a group of men are speaking, they'll say "Nous sommes heureux".
If a group of women are speaking, they'll say "Nous sommes heureuses".
If a group of men & women are speaking, they'll say "Nous sommes heureux"
Similarly, if you're speaking to a woman you'll say "tu es heureuse".
If you're speaking to a man, you'll say "Tu es heureux"
