Please be patient

Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.

Pro tip: you can rename the thread title with `.tr <thread name>`

Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.

Excuse me for asking this here but recently I've been paying attention to how Arabic is spoken. I may still be at A1 in French but as far as I have heard, Arabic sometimes sounds like the French R when it comes to its accent. As a Mongol, I've been struggling to spit out French words. Have you had a tough time pronouncing words, especially those that contain the French R or was it already a bit like Arabic? Thanks.

The -t- is inserted between the verb and the subject pronoun when the verb ends with a vowel and the pronoun starts with a vowel. It's for euphony.
It only happens in the third person singular of first group verbs as well as some other verbs such as aller.

Which is the same letter when French ppl say rrrr

#

The letter is pronounced like this

#

That's the letter

pale breach

va-il ❌
va-t-il ✅

parle-il ❌
parle-t-il ✅

etc

#

Lol

pale breach
#

yes, it's just so it sounds good 🙂

#

va-il is difficult to say

crystal sedge
#

Yes

pale breach
#

so we say va-t-il instead

@crystal sedge I appreciate the reply and thanks in addition for the tape by the way, God bless. 👋 I've heard that the Arabic spoken in various places varies significantly. Could you chat with someone in Syria or Iraq, for example, without difficulty? Or even Oman?

crystal sedge
#

Nope not at all

#

We can get a mix with a slang

#

And accents

#

But we would communicate very well

#

For example

#

I can talk to someone a thousand years ago

#

That speaks arabic

#

That's like forcing an English guy for modern times to speak old english

#

But in Arabic u can speak and understand the other person even 1000 years ago

#

Don't put sland however

#

Slang

#

I cna give examples if u want

#

@crystal sedge Very well understood. Thanks for informing me. I'm curious which Arabic should be learnt in order to conduct fluent talks over the entire peninsula, if not Northern Africa.

crystal sedge
#

Well

#

The Arabian peninsula is very similar

#

Kuwait Jordan all the way down

#

They are very similar

#

Syrian Iraqi lebanese

#

Similar to each other

#

So if I hear them talk

#

I would cut the whole peninsula places

#

And think of those

#

Palestinians as well

#

We call them all shaam

#

Al*

#

The shaam

#

For Egypt

#

We are the only abnormality XDDDD

#

Arabs all of em

#

Recognize Egyptian just from the tone of it

#

It's easiest btw

#

And the most to breaking Arabic Grammer rules

#

Not the correct however

#

The closest u can get to very correct Arabic speaking

#

Is saudi

#

But not the best

#

It's like different accents all incorrect

#

Not the perfect Arabic or how it's supposed to be spoken

#

That's the version we learn in school

#

But no one studies

#

So we stick to the accent

#

Like when i say differences I slang

#

An Algerian could say

#

Mouth sheikh for an egg recipe

#

Moukh*

#

Literally means brains of an silamic priest

#

And in Egypt we would call it shakshouka

#

The thing that's shakes alot

#

Lol

#

We could go all day tbh

#

BTW we can talk about it if u want

#

I am free

@tough patrol Hi there, please respond in the threads created below the questions and not in the main channel itself

# tough patrol D'accord, je vous remercie pour me dire.

je te* remercie de me l'avoir dit*
(vous is odd on the internet, we use de after remercier to introduce an infinitive, and you need to put the tense of "me dire" into the past infinitive after remercier if the action is already done)

The phenomenon of adding the 't' is called epenthesis

#

Never mind, Wikipedia says it doesn't count for some reason
