Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
also finding it difficult to find a natural-sounding translation but something like "... (so?) that we wouldn't do it any other way"
to me s'y prendre is something like to go about it, or to do something (about it).. perhaps even to address it/tackle it. for this context i think finally : we would like to exterminate/annihilate this people/population, that we wouldn't do it otherwise
phrases like this are already difficult to translate into english because starting with the que tends to imply a wish and that's quite an archaic structure in english 😔 perhaps more context would help ?
thanks, basalt, super!
On voudrait X qu'on ne s'y prendrait pas autrement is an idiomatic structure that means that if you want to do the given action, you wouldn't proceed any differently, that's how you do it, there's no better option/alternative.
there's no other way to go about that .. .seems to fit in like a glove.
excellent way to put it thank you nameless one
i find it really difficult to translate either way ðŸ˜
perfect too. I love it
where's this text from, some sort of academic source ?
oui, de Philippe Morvan, l'ecrivan français.
