Our volunteers look into many questions every day; sometimes it takes them a little while to answer.
Make it descriptive, including relevant context, but also to the point. This way you improve your chances of getting a more relevant and specific answer.
yes
i never learned it and my pronunciation is fine
people who use it swear by its usefulness though so it's up to you
R u a native hindi speaker?
nope
tamil
IPA helps to discuss pronunciation but is not a requirement
Right it facilitates discussion and helps you view thing from a phonetics point of view
But in no way is it a requirement / prequisite

While I agree it's absolutely not necessary, learning the characters associated with French is a tiny tiny effort. Many of the characters are already identical to the latin letters and there are a handful of others to learn which only take an hour or two to understand
Ohh ok good to know! It does seem kinda intimating at first
Yeah, the entirety of IPA is quite a big ask of a normal language learner (heck, I have a BA in linguistics and I never learned everything)
but for language-learning purposes, you only need to focus on the subset of characters that actually apply to the language you're learning and you certainly don't need to learn all the diacritics that are used to specify very narrow linguistic transcriptions
Ohh good to know ! Stopped me from trying to learn everything 😭

it may be. but im going to be honest, you are better off hearing and mimicking.
after hearing and mimicking
maybe you still have an accent, or not.
but if you do, and you actually start learning and not care about pronounciation so much via IPA
you can talk to natives and mimick their accent back to them
Ok 😊 thanks
bon courage you can do this
Also, to improve your pronunciation (after you have a beginner level), consider joining the reading club events on our server
